Nepal Declaration
  1. We, the representatives of 10 National Platforms of Asia, from Bangladesh, Cambodia, China, East Timor, India, Indonesia, Japan, South Korea, Nepal, and Philippines, met at Kathmandu (Nepal), on October 18-19, 2011 at the office of NGO Federation of Nepal.
  2. We believe and work towards promoting human rights, democratic governance, inclusive and holistic growth, social justice, respecting diversity and gender equality.
  3. We recognize the diversity of the Asia region, and commit ourselves to strengthen the Asia level coalition of national platforms.
  4. We also recognize the need of collectivization of national platforms at global level and strengthening of International Forum of National Platforms.
  5. We also adapt the “Basis of Unity and Organizational By-laws of “Asian Coalition of National Platforms (Asian-CNNP).
  6. We express our solidarity and resolve to support each other with knowledge, information and learnings.
  7. We are not alone; therefore we must support and strengthen each other by mutual sharing and expression of solidarity.
  8. We also resolve to undertake following activities in:

         i).        Long term:-          

  • Policy advocacy on behalf of Asian platforms in various global initiatives, and regional platforms.
  • Focus on improved and constructive relationship between Civil Society and Governments.
  • Replicate, share and learn from each other.
  • Exchange of information and innovations.
  • Capacity building efforts on international issues.
  • At least once in a year face to face meeting of Asian national platforms.
  • Work collectively on mutually agreed agenda after Bussan.
  • Work collectively to influence G20 and use the maximum potential of the region.

              ii) Short term:
  • Regional focal points on the topics if Non-Governmental Diplomacy agenda.
  • Produce state of voluntary sector report in 10 countries represented in the meeting.
  • Strengthen the Asian website with mutual sharing of information.
  • Search and invite national platforms from the countries which are not represented in the coalition.
